GONG XI FA CAI! 2009 Year of the Ox

Happy Chinese New Year to all of our family, friends, readers and devoted customers. May 2009 the year of the Earth Ox bring health and prosperity to all. The Ox, or the Buffalo sign symbolizes prosperity through fortitude and hard work. Hmmmm....sounds pretty accurate for the current times. The mighty Ox is the second of the twelve animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Barack Obama, Jane Fonda, Jack Nicholson, Margaret Thatcher, Meg Ryan, Meryl Streep, Princess Diana and George Clooney, are just a few famous names you may recognise who all fall under the sign of the Ox.

Chinese New Year is a marvelously colourful time of celebration. Red is a firm favourite representing all things good...luck, wealth, health, you name it! Red is so popular it is used for almost everything, from the red packets filled with money given to young children to the decorations used around the house and even the desserts prepared for the family. In terms of jewellery for Chinese New Year I would say, the redder the better! Why not right? Our Red agate ANNA earrings would be perfect to add just a touch of red good luck to your Chinese New Year outfit.
Whatever you do decide to wear for the festivities and wherever you do decide to go, just make sure you do one thing....have fun! Enjoy the day, and eat plenty! All the best.....
