In a month like January most people are concerned with keeping warm and staying out of the cold cold cold winter air...I know I certainly am! So it seems just perfect that the January birthstone should be such a warm coloured stone. Garnet has a lush deep red colour and is often used in place of it's more expensive cousin the Ruby. According to myth, a Garnet illuminated Noah's Ark day and night when the skies were black with rain. That's a nice thought isn't it? I suppose that's where the stone gets it's reputation for being an all round good luck charm. Bohemian Butterfly tries to use a variety of stones in our work and we often turn to garnet to add richness to a piece. A particular favourite of mine is the Serendipity necklace which features Garnets and raw Rubies...why take one or the other when you can have both right? Another fine example of the use of the beautiful garnet are the Inferno earrings. A combination of Garnet with Carnelian. An unusual, mix red and orange, but it works! Both these pieces of our collection are available to buy online at http://www.bohemianbutterflycollections.com/
